There are not many steps in the lip care routine but one step which is important in all of these is scrubbing (exfoliating). This is the step that eliminates your dry, dark, and pigmented lips and gives you naturally healthy pink lips. But you don’t need to buy expensive lip scrubs from the market. Because I believe using the organic ingredients for DIY lip scrubs can work wonderfully on your lips.
How do lip scrubs work?
One of the main jobs of all lip scrubs is to slough off the dry and dead skin of lips and help the lip balms to get deep inside the skin. By clearing away the dead and flaky skin you’re left with only soft and pink lips.
Using a lip scrub before applying lipstick can give you a smooth base for your lipstick. This will keep your lipstick for a longer time and will also add more beauty to your lips.
Do I need a lip scrub?
Do you want soft pink lips? If yes, then absolutely you need to scrub your lips for a glamorous appearance. For smoother pout, you can rely on homemade DIY lip scrubs.
How to exfoliate lips properly?
Before starting the exfoliating it is very important to be clear how to do this properly. Make sure your lips have clean and no makeup. While doing the scrubbing be gentle as much as possible. Don’t do the scrubbing more than 1 minute and avoid the unnecessary pressure. If you are using a toothbrush for exfoliating then use a toothbrush with super soft bristles.
In the end, don’t forget to apply rich lip balm immediately. If you have done exfoliating in your morning skincare routine, then use only lip balm with SPF. And at night you can apply any hydrating lip balm, even vaseline can be applied.
Important Note – If you have cracks on your lips, do not exfoliate them until they heal. Exfoliating cracked lips will make them only worse.
How to make DIY lip scrubs at home?
Generally, lip scrubs contain two components: an exfoliant and an emollient. Exfoliants in lip scrubs are medium-coarse particles such as coconut sugar, brown sugar, coffee, and cinnamon, etc. On the other side, emollients are natural oils like olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, etc.
I have listed 10 DIY lip scrubs that you can easily make at home. Each one is so simple to make and use. The quantity given here is just an estimate. You can adjust the quantity as per your requirement while making lip scrub.
